Essential Oils, A Wellness Tool

Can I talk essential oils? I’ve been using them for a little over 3 years. And they have Changed. My. Life!

Specifically, I use Young Living Essential Oils. I have done a lot of research on oils. I researched before I even tried them, and Young Living is by far the best company for several reasons. Their purity standard called Seed to Seal, is second to none. Not one other company has this claim to purity.  They are completely transparent even allowing you to visit their farms and distilleries. Their founder D. Gary Young travelled the world to learn herbology, aromatherapy and distilling techniques. And he started this company 27 years ago, one of the oldest essential oil companies in the world.

Purity matters in the world of essential oils. Gary Young makes his oils for a purpose, to benefit our physical or  emotional health is some way. Young Living uses no pesticides or toxic chemicals in their growing or distilling. I know these oils are PURE.

So let’s talk about how they have changed my life.  So cancer is something I’ve got going on. I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma 3-1/2 years ago. I began using oils at about the same time. Again, I researched essential oils & cancer, and found that there were several oils I needed in my life to help me through this journey called cancer. Frankincense, Orange, Thieves, Immupower, Believe and Idaho Blue Spruce to name a few. Look them up. Do your own research. They have such amazing properties and many would benefit from using them. 

Let me just say, that multiple myeloma is a nasty cancer. It’s not like cut it out, radiate it away and you’re cured. There is no cure. So it’s chemo forever, and it’s relapses and remissions. This past year I was in my relapse season and on quite heavy chemo. But people were always saying that I looked so good, not at all like I was fighting cancer. And when I think about others battling this same cancer, I realized I was doing better than most of them, despite my oncologist always saying mine was the aggressive type. And I was taking every opportunity to have fun, enjoy life, and travel.

Using my oils consistently has paid off.  I’m now in remission. And I won’t stop using them.

But there’s more! Young Living has supplements, household cleaners, personal care items, and make-up. And I use it all!  I had my blood tested early on in my cancer journey and had nasty chemicals such as parabens, phthalates, benzenes, and BCPs in my bloodstream, all in the “red” zone. I ditched all the toxic, chemical-laden products I had in my home, and switched to all Young Living products. Then I tested my blood again a year later. And I had none of the toxins! I was in the “green”! I believe this change has really helped my healing. No toxins to fight alongside the cancer. I’ve only got one fight now.

I’ve also been drinking an amazing product by Young Living called Ningxia Red.

Start Small

To obtain health in all areas of our lives is a huge undertaking. Not because we are lazy or don’t care. But because this world we live in has made it too easy for us to become unhealthy and stay that way. The environment, what we breathe, eat, and even watch and hear, can all confuse and pollute of bodies.

I have been trying for years to become healthier. I am quite a bit overweight and have recently have just been diagnosed with cancer. Well, what a wake up call that was!  But it wasn’t that I wasn’t trying before. I was!  I’m a nurse, I read a lot, joined online health challenges, joined exercise groups and the gym, bought healthy foods. I had many small successes. But it just was so difficult to keep it going!

So I started changing just one thing at a time. I would master that change and then move on to another change. Slowly I began to see my life changing for the better. One small change at a time was what I discovered really worked!

So my BEST suggestion to begin or begin again is to Start Small. Start with trying to change one small habit. Most of us try the all or nothing principal. That just sets us up to fail. Pick one thing you can change to better your health and do it! For one week, then two, and just don’t stop! Like more water each day, or an extra piece of fruit or vegetable daily, walk for 15 minutes, or a daily quiet time. Pick one new healthy recipe per week, shop for it and make it! Stick with you one small change until you’ve mastered it before adding another small change.  Think about it…. no of us became unhealthy overnight. It probably was a process over time. So it is going to take time to undo our unhealthful ways and create new healthy ways of doing life. But I am here to tell you that it can be done!

Stick with me and I will take you on my journey towards health! And I mean in every aspect of your life! I am finding great joy in my journey as well.  This is just the beginning of what can be a health fulfilling life! Let’s do this together!
